The Toxic Relationship - Ingredients
One of the things that started my journey to find cleaner more natural products was reading product ingredients. What I discovered was that I didn't know what they were, let alone was I able to pronounce them. I saw first hand the damage and issues chemicals can have on a person's skin. For my mother, she suffered for years with severe reactions to additives that were in products to provide longevity or create more lather, but didn't really add any health benefits. It also reminded me that if these products with long lists of chemicals were creating havoc for my mom, imagine all the horrific testing they did on helpless laboratory animals.
For fun, here is a list of ingredients for a popular product: Pyrithione Zinc 1%, Water, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Glycol Distearate, Zinc Carbonate, Sodium Chloride, Sodium Xylenesulfonate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Fragrance, Dimethicone, Sodium Benzoate, Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride, Magnesium Carbonate Hydroxide, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Blue 1, Methylisothiazolinone, Red 33. Do you know what this is? But more importantly, does it slightly frighten you? If we told you it was Head & Shoulders Classic Scent Shampoo, would you be surprised?
One of the handy tools I have found to look up an ingredient, to know what it is and what it does is INCIDecoder. When we are unsure of something, this is our first stop, but we still try to limit the amount of chemicals regardless in our wellness products. Less is always more in our books.
At Hunni-Bunni.com, when we make the decision to represent a product or products, we need to know what their ingredients are but also their benefits. We look to companies that are cruelty-free and also concerned for the environment. It is important to us to find items that try to avoid plastic, that look to renewable and sustainable packaging. Why create an amazing product only to wrap it in plastic and add to the pollution that is making it more difficult to provide these healthy ingredients?
We hope you are excited to join us on our journey and welcome the opportunity for YOU to help guide the future of Hunni-Bunni.com. Please reach out to us on this site or via our social media accounts at Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest or Twitter and tell us what you would like to see us provide.
